Humanoids

2022 | Humanoids

A series of portraits (all 50cm x 70cm) based on the Imprint on paper series.

In this series featuring Humanoids, my aim is to delve into the complex ethical and philosophical questions that revolve around the nature of consciousness and the definition of humanity. Through the relationships that humans form with their humanoid counterparts, these questions are explored, and the tensions that arise when the humanoids begin to question their own existence and place in society are highlighted.

What makes this exploration particularly fascinating is that in today's social media culture, we often use face manipulation programs to alter our appearances, thus placing ourselves in the position of a humanoid. This creates a new dimension in our understanding of authenticity and raises important questions about the role of technology in shaping our perceptions of ourselves and others.

Overall, my Humanoids series seeks to prompt viewers to contemplate the intricacies of our relationship with technology and how it can shape our understanding of humanity and consciousness. Through this exploration, we may gain a deeper appreciation for the complexities of the human experience and the challenges we face in an increasingly technologically advanced world.
